Publishing Ethics

The ethics policy of this journal is based on recommendations from the international committee: Committee on Publication Ethics

Editorial Responsibilities

The manuscript may be rejected by the editor on the stage prior to peer-review for a solid reason (inappropriate topic for the journal, the material is of obviously low scientific quality, the article was previously published elsewhere, essential contradiction to the ethical principles of the Journal was detected). Editors should only accept a paper when reasonably certain. Editors should guarantee that the quality of the papers conforms to internationally accepted scientific and publication ethical guidelines. In case of a conflict of interest between an editor and an article author, the article should be reassigned to another editor.

Reporting Standards

Authors of original research should present an accurate account of the work performed as well as an objective discussion of its significance. Underlying data should be represented accurately in the paper. A paper should contain sufficient detail and references to permit others to replicate the work. Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements constitute unethical behavior and are unacceptable.

Review and professional publication articles should also be accurate and objective. Editorial opinion works should be clearly identified as such.

Advertising Policies

The journal does not publish advertising materials

Originality and Plagiarism

Only original works are acceptable for publication in the journal. The journal does not allow any forms of plagiarism.

Should authors use or refer to works and/or statements by other authors, the said sources should be properly cited or quoted.

The journal is using "ANTIPLAGIAT" software for plagiarism detection in all Russian-language manuscripts. Google Scholar is used for English-language manuscripts.

Papers will be rejected at any stage of the publication process (even if the article was published already) if any plagiarism is detected.

Authorship

Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. All those who have made significant contributions should be listed as co-authors. If there are others who have participated in certain substantive aspects of the research project, they should be acknowledged or listed as contributors.

The responsible author should ensure that all appropriate co-authors and no inappropriate co-authors are included in the paper and that all co-authors have seen and approved the final draft of the paper and have agreed to its submission for publication.

Hazards and Human Subjects

Authors should include a statement in the manuscript confirming that informed consent was obtained for any experiments on human subjects. The privacy rights of human subjects must always be observed.

Statement of Human Rights

When reporting experiments on human subjects, authors should indicate whether the procedures followed were in accordance with the ethical standards of the responsible committee on human experimentation (institutional and national) and with the Helsinki Declaration of 1975, as revised in 2000 and 2008. Should there be doubt whether the research was conducted in accordance with the Helsinki Declaration, the authors must explain the rationale for their approach and demonstrate that the institutional review body explicitly approved the debatable aspects of the study.

Fundamental Errors in Published Works

When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in their own published work, it is the author’s obligation to promptly notify the journal editor or publisher and cooperate with the editor to retract or correct the paper. If the editor or the publisher learn from a third party that a published work contains a significant error, it is the obligation of the author to promptly correct or retract the paper or provide evidence to the editor proving the correctness of the original paper.

Retraction Guidelines

In some cases, the Editorial Board may consider retracting a publication.

The grounds for retraction may be the following:

  • it constitutes plagiarism, including borrowed pictures, tables, diagrams, etc. if plagiarism was detected after publication (see Plagiarism Policy),
  • third parties forward claims concerning copyrights for the article or its parts,
  • the findings have previously been published elsewhere before the date of its publication in the journal.

Privacy Statement

Information about the authors (surname, name, family name, affiliation, e-mail, contact number) provided by them for publication in the journal is becoming available for an indefinite range of persons, for which the authors give their permission by providing their article online on the website of the journal.

The following data is published for the authors’ convenience to provide a full and correct account of publications and their citation by the corresponding bibliography companies and facilitate the contact between the authors and the scientific community.

Personal information provided by the authors in addition to the aforementioned includes additional e-mails and phones. It shall be used only for contacting the authors in the process of publication preparation. The Editorial Board may not transmit this information to the third party, who can use in for some other purposes.

Peer Review Process

Regulations on the reviewing process of the articles in the journal “Proceedings of Southern Federal University. Philology”

Articles submitted to the editorial board of the journal “Proceedings of Southern Federal University. Philology” undergo the process of single-blinded review (the reviewer knows about the author while the author doesn’t know about the editor).

The head of the editorial passes the articles to the editors of the sections (print or electronic version). The editors define the reviewers according to the theme of the article.

The reviewer must examine the article within 3 months and give a review (by e-mail, by post or directly to the editorial's office).

The reviewer can recommend the article for publication; recommend for publication after its modification; not recommend for publication.

The review evaluates the scientific value of the article. Attention is paid to the title, objectives of the article, novelty, sufficient scientific argumentation, summarizing and conclusions, scientific and practical importance.

If the reviewer recommends the article after modification or does not recommend it, the review must state the reasons for the decision.

The head of the editorial demonstrates the review to the author in case of remarks and necessity of its modification or in case of its rejection.

If the article has been modified in accordance with the reviewer's remarks, the article undergoes a second reviewing by the same reviewer. The duration of the second reviewing is 30 days.

If there are any recommendations for correcting the article, the editorial suggests taking them into account when preparing its new version. The correcting should be completed within no more than 1 month from the moment of sending an electronic message to the author(s) stating the necessity to introduce changes. The article corrected by the author is re-sent to the reviewer and section editor. If, after revision, the reviewer or section editor have significant comments, the article is withdrawn from consideration and rejected. In this case, the author receives a notification via e-mail.

In case of a negative review from two different reviewers or one negative review on the modified draft, the article is rejected without further examination by other members of the editorial board.

A second correction of the article is not allowed.

The head of the editorial informs the author of the decision made. The maximum period of reviewing process between the dates of acceptance and final reviewing decision is four months.

There is no further correspondence with the authors of rejected articles.

A positive review is not sufficient for the publication of the article.

The final decision on the publication is made by the editorial board at a special session dedicated to the upcoming issue of the journal.

Subject to 8(f), all rights not expressly granted by Licensor are hereby reserved, including but not limited to the rights set forth in Section 4(d).

4. Restrictions. The license granted in Section 3 above is expressly made subject to and limited by the following restrictions:

  1. You may Distribute or Publicly Perform the Work only under the terms of this License. You must include a copy of, or the Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) for, this License with every copy of the Work You Distribute or Publicly Perform. You may not offer or impose any terms on the Work that restrict the terms of this License or the ability of the recipient of the Work to exercise the rights granted to that recipient under the terms of the License. You may not sublicense the Work. You must keep intact all notices that refer to this License and to the disclaimer of warranties with every copy of the Work You Distribute or Publicly Perform. When You Distribute or Publicly Perform the Work, You may not impose any effective technological measures on the Work that restrict the ability of a recipient of the Work from You to exercise the rights granted to that recipient under the terms of the License. This Section 4(a) applies to the Work as incorporated in a Collection, but this does not require the Collection apart from the Work itself to be made subject to the terms of this License. If You create a Collection, upon notice from any Licensor You must, to the extent practicable, remove from the Collection any credit as required by Section 4(c), as requested.
  2. You may not exercise any of the rights granted to You in Section 3 above in any manner that is primarily intended for or directed toward commercial advantage or private monetary compensation. The exchange of the Work for other copyrighted works by means of digital file-sharing or otherwise shall not be considered to be intended for or directed toward commercial advantage or private monetary compensation, provided there is no payment of any monetary compensation in connection with the exchange of copyrighted works.

The credit required by this Section 4(c) may be implemented in any reasonable manner; provided, however, that in the case of a Collection, if a credit for multiple contributing authors of Collection appears, this credit should appear at least at the same place any other credits are made and in a manner at least as prominent as the credits for the other contributing authors. For the avoidance of doubt, You may only use the credit required by this Section for the purpose of attribution in the manner set out above and, by exercising Your rights under this License, You may not implicitly or explicitly assert or imply any connection with, sponsorship or endorsement by the Original Author, Licensor and/or Attribution Parties, as appropriate, of You or Your use of the Work, without the separate, express prior written permission of the Original Author, Licensor and/or Attribution Parties.
  4. To eliminate any ambiguity:

    1. Non-waivable Compulsory License Schemes. In those jurisdictions in which the right to collect royalties through any statutory or compulsory licensing scheme cannot be waived, the Licensor reserves the exclusive right to collect such royalties for any exercise by You of the rights granted under this License;
    2. Waivable Compulsory License Schemes. In those jurisdictions in which the right to collect royalties through any statutory or compulsory licensing scheme can be waived, the Licensor reserves the exclusive right to collect such royalties for any exercise by You of the rights granted under this License if Your exercise of such rights is for a purpose or use which is otherwise than noncommercial as permitted under Section 4(b) and otherwise waives the right to collect royalties through any statutory or compulsory licensing scheme; and,
    3. Voluntary License Schemes. The Licensor reserves the right to collect royalties, whether individually or, in the event that the Licensor is a member of a collecting society that administers voluntary licensing schemes, via that society, from any exercise by You of the rights granted under this License that is for a purpose or use which is otherwise than noncommercial as permitted under Section 4(b).
  5. Except as otherwise agreed in writing by the Licensor or as may be otherwise permitted by applicable law, if You Reproduce, Distribute or Publicly Perform the Work either by itself or as part of any Collections, You must not distort, mutilate, modify or take other derogatory action in relation to the Work which would be prejudicial to the Original Author's honor or reputation.

5. Representations, Warranties, and Disclaimer

UNLESS OTHERWISE MUTUALLY AGREED BY THE PARTIES IN WRITING, LICENSOR OFFERS THE WORK AS-IS AND MAKES NO REPRESENTATIONS OR WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND CONCERNING THE WORK, EXPRESS, IMPLIED, STATUTORY OR OTHERWISE, INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, WARRANTIES OF TITLE, MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR THE ABSENCE OF LATENT OR OTHER DEFECTS, ACCURACY, OR THE PRESENCE OF ABSENCE OF ERRORS, WHETHER OR NOT DISCOVERABLE. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OF IMPLIED WARRANTIES, SO SUCH EXCLUSION MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.

6. Limitation on Liability. EXCEPT TO THE EXTENT REQUIRED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL LICENSOR BE LIABLE TO YOU ON ANY LEGAL THEORY FOR ANY SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, PUNITIVE OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF THIS LICENSE OR THE USE OF THE WORK, EVEN IF THE LICENSOR HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

7. Termination

  1. This License and the rights granted hereunder will terminate automatically upon any breach by You of the terms of this License. Individuals or entities who have received Collections from You under this License, however, will not have their licenses terminated provided such individuals or entities remain in full compliance with those licenses. Sections 1, 2, 5, 6, 7, and 8 will survive any termination of this License.
  2. Subject to the above terms and conditions, the license granted here is perpetual (for the duration of the applicable copyright in the Work). Notwithstanding the above, Licensor reserves the right to release the Work under different license terms or to stop distributing the Work at any time; provided, however, that any such election will not serve to withdraw this License (or any other license that has been, or is required to be, granted under the terms of this License), and this License will continue in full force and effect unless terminated as stated above.

8. Miscellaneous

  1. Each time You Distribute or Publicly Perform the Work or a Collection, the Licensor offers to the recipient a license to the Work on the same terms and conditions as the license granted to You under this License.
  2. If any provision of this License is invalid or unenforceable under applicable law, it shall not affect the validity or enforceability of the remainder of the terms of this License, and without further action by the parties to this agreement, such provision shall be reformed to the minimum extent necessary to make such provision valid and enforceable.
  3. No term or provision of this License shall be deemed waived and no breach consented to unless such waiver or consent shall be in writing and signed by the party to be charged with such waiver or consent.
  4. This License constitutes the entire agreement between the parties with respect to the Work licensed here. There are no understandings, agreements or representations with respect to the Work not specified here. Licensor shall not be bound by any additional provisions that may appear in any communication from You. This License may not be modified without the mutual written agreement of the Licensor and You.
  5. The rights granted under, and the subject matter referenced, in this License were drafted utilizing the terminology of the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works (as amended on September 28, 1979), the Rome Convention of 1961, the WIPO Copyright Treaty of 1996, the WIPO Performances and Phonograms Treaty of 1996 and the Universal Copyright Convention (as revised on July 24, 1971). These rights and subject matter take effect in the relevant jurisdiction in which the License terms are sought to be enforced according to the corresponding provisions of the implementation of those treaty provisions in the applicable national law. If the standard suite of rights granted under applicable copyright law includes additional rights not granted under this License, such additional rights are deemed to be included in the License; this License is not intended to restrict the license of any rights under applicable law.
