“Europeism” in N.I. Nadezhdin’s linguistic concept

Abstract. The linguistic concept of N.I. Nadezhdin worked out in the 1830s in the context of dispute between Slavophiles and Westerners on the Russian literary language, is a synthesis of own and alien, i.e. foreign language, European. The originality of the concept lies in the fact that under the «European» Nadezhdin means Slavic languages. Advancing the idea of enriching Russian vocabulary by words from other Slavic languages, he is trying to implement it in his own language practice. The article analyzes previously not studied composition by Nadezhdin «Rhode of Knyazhevich».
