About Some Lexico-Grammatic Features of Social Media Language
Abstract
Anna V. Poloyan (Rostov-on-Don, Russian Federation)
To justify the logical use of the term “Internet communication” it is necessary to pay special attention to such characteristics of it as virtuality and anonymity that make communication in Social networks extremely attractive for a number of communicants who, for various reasons, want to conceal their real name, social status, location and other personal data. At the same time the specificity of Internet communication determines its lexical and grammatical content that is confirmed by the research carried out in this article.
Key words: Internet communication, Social networks, lexical borrowing, jargon, slang, chat, blog.
