PROFESSIONAL MILITARY JARGON IN THE MEDIADISCOURSE OF MILITARY JOURNALISTS (ON THE EXAMPLES OF TELEGRAM CHANNELS)

The article is devoted to the issues of the functioning of lexical units of professional military jargon in the speech of war correspondents during the period of their military operations in Ukraine. The paper examines the theoretical aspects of the use of military professional jargon in the discourse of Russian military officers. The author identifies the essence of the terms “professional jargonˮ, “slangˮ, “speech personalityˮ and identifies the functions of these verbal units in the linguistic environment of the military and in the mass media. The results of an empirical study are presented, the purpose of which was to identify the functions and types of professional military jargon in the speech of military journalists – authors of Telegram channels and to analyze the process of penetration of the used lexemes of professional jargon into the general speech environment. The main research method is a qualitative (essentially descriptive) content analysis of the discourse of military journalists - authors of Telegram channels. Scientific monographs, dictionaries and reference books on military jargon were also studied. The following tasks were solved, arising from the purpose of the study: the features of the professional jargon of the military as a linguistic phenomenon were analyzed; the meaning, place and functions of military jargon in the speech of military journalists were determined; using specific examples from the discourse of the Telegram channels of five reputable military journalists for the period from February 2022 from the beginning of its The year shows how jargon is used in the Telegram speech space. The conducted research has shown that currently there is a penetration of military professional jargon into the discourse of military journalists – authors of Telegram channels, and through them slang expressions penetrate into the general language environment.
