FIXED PHRASE SCHEME «BUT FOR + N4 [PRON4] + N1 [PRON1] + WOULD + VINF. PERF., INF.!» IN THE SYSTEM OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE: ETYMOLOGIC ASPECT
Abstract
Slivnaya E.M.
Keywords: syntactic phraseology, syntactic phraseological units, fixed phrase scheme, conditional mood, etymology, elimination.
The article is devoted to the analysis of the complex sentence with the subordinate clause of condition in phraseological aspect. Traditionally such syntactic constructions are studied under Subjunctive or Conditional Mood. Yet such approach does not give an opportunity to solve a number of important problems, which are connected with the organization and functioning of the structures in question. The analysis of one of such structures in etymological aspect helps to explain still inexplicable facts of breaking the rules of their grammar arrangement.
