CONTRAST: PECULIARITIES OF ITS SEMANTICS AND REPRESENTATION IN RUSSIAN AND ENGLISH PROVERBS

The published article is devoted to the analysis of different means of contrast representation in Russian and English proverbs. Touching upon the questions of semantic and lingvocultural differences in terms of contrast verbalization in both languages the article focuses on the multi-step and complex contrast representation. A system of lexical and syntactical means forming opposition and contrast serves some aims: active influence on the addressee, context and proverb intensification, illocutionary and perlocutionary effects achievement.
