SLANG AND THE CATEGORIES OF ECONOMY AND EXCESSIVENESS

The article deals with the language realization of such categories as economy and excessiveness. Their coexistence and struggle are reflected in the article. Abbreviations and different types of shortening are considered to be one of the main means of laconism in communication. Language excessiveness is revealed in standard and substandard (slang) synonymy. Synonyms of modern American slang denoting ‘money’ are analyzed by the author.
