RELIGIOUS DOGMATIC SEMIOSPHERE OF “DIVINE POEMS” BY JOHN DONNE
Abstract
The article deals with the religious-dogmatic semiosphere founded by the ‘metaphysical school’ of John Donne on the material of his poetic cycle “Divine poems”. The particular focus is on the key semantic binary oppositions, which can be traced in the book: rescue / death, furnace / Dolny, eternal / temporal. They directly correlate with the dogma of the Trinity. The article provides a detailed analysis of the religious-dogmatic vocabulary cycle of John Donne “Divine poems”.
Keywords: John Donne, baroque, religious-dogmatic vocabulary, eschatology, soteriology, Trinity.
