SPECIFICITY OF MODERN TERMINOLOGY SITUATION
Abstract
Key words: terminological situation, terminology, borrowing terminology normalization.
The article is devoted to terminological problems in some areas of modern Russian science (mostly these problems highlight the example of the economy). It is considered the reasons of terminological situation in a number of areas, rapidly developing or recently undergone significant changes, such as the adaptation of foreign scientific theories and models, the lack of centralized control in the field of terminology, the general attraction of specialists to use English words instead of searching for relevant Russian-language version. It is carried out a comparison of modern terminological situation with earlier periods of development of Russian terminology of various sciences and identified the differences between them at the modern stage. Also the article analyzes the “testimony” of everyday metalinguistic consciousness (the term of A.N. Rostova [Rostova, 2008; 47]) with respect to terminological situation and concludes its instability (in some areas). Modern terminology problems are illustrated by the analysis of the borrowed term benchmarking and its translations into Russian.
