SYSTEM ANTONYMS IN THE WORKS OF DAN BROWN
Abstract

Study of text functioning antonyms in the contemporary art discourse is one of the most relevant problems of linguistics at the present stage of its development. For the individual style of the famous American writer Dan Brown’s characteristic wide application of receiving contrast, which the author creates using antonyms. This article describes the system of lexical antonyms, most frequently encountered in the works by Dan Brown. The author depicts the specifics of their use and involvement in text formation. It is established the system of lexical semantic groups antonyms, typical of the individual style of the writer. These include antonyms transmission contrast of life and death, good and evil, light and darkness, between science and religion, earth and heaven, modern and ancient, order and chaos, good and bad, friendship and enmity, truth and lies. The article gives examples of numerous single system lexical antonyms of non-semantic groups, but also involves the coherence of the text. It is Identified the means of actualization antonymous oppositions and their expressive potential. Results of the study can be applied in the teaching of a special course on lexicology, stylistics and literary criticism.
