TO THE QUESTION OF CENSORSHIP AS A MEANS OF CONSCIOUSNESS MANIPULATION
Abstract
Key words: censorship, manipulation of consciousness, modern society, ideology, globalization, mass media, mass culture.
Modern society is entering a new era when ideas on the world outlook are changing. Ideological paradigm change is associated primarily with the development of information technology, integration and globalization of the world economy. As a consequence there is a destruction of the familiar institution of state censorship, which in the new reality is not effective, and the creation of manipulative technologies for monitoring and filtering information. Nation-states are part of the global structures: political, economic and information. It makes any society vulnerable to manipulation and destructive influence on the part of the forces interested in the cultural, economic and political hegemony. Elements of the manipulative program are myths, including the worldwide conspiracy, the dangers of censorship, etc. that instills the idea of obedience and the meaninglessness of the critical analysis of the existing order of things. Global communication space invalidates all attempts to establish control over the information flow (ie censorship), so the state is to be ready to defend the values and the way of life not by a simple prohibition, but by more effective methods of information counteraction.
