The speech portrait of a Turkmen speaking student who has come to study at a Russian university is described in the article. It identifies the linguistics, speech, psychological and pedagogical characteristics. The factors shaping the linguistic personality of the future Russian language teacher are determined. A comprehensive description of the speech portrait of a Turkic-speaking representative will help educators implementing the educational process to optimize the teaching content and to choose the methods, techniques and technologies that will contribute to the formation and acquisition of the competencies necessary for interpersonal and professional interaction of this contingent of students.
