The article discusses the relevance of creating and using an electronic textbook in literature lessons in modern school education. The model of an electronic textbook on literature that we developed is described using the example of studying the story “The Overcoat” by N. V. Gogol, as well as its practical application in literature lessons in the 8th grade. The effectiveness of using an electronic textbook in studying a work of fiction is assessed. In the course of the study, we came to the following conclusion: using an electronic textbook in literature lessons in the 8th grade when studying the story “The Overcoat” by N. V. Gogol increased the level of cognitive interest of students and contributed to better memorization of the educational material. This allows us to talk about the advisability of creating a full-fledged electronic textbook on literature.
