Abstract

Russian and French phraseological semantic correspondences that are genetically related to national and cultural realities, to history, social and political life, literature, superstitious beliefs, and customs are considered in this paper based on interlingual pairs of phraseological units. The study of such language units reveals the national and cultural identity of the Russian and French ethnic communities. The authors identify interlingual phraseological semantic correspondences that reveal the originality of the mentality, way of thinking, and technique of secondary nomination of representatives of the Russian and French ethnic communities.

Key words: interlingual semantic correspondences, identity, idiom, phraseological unit, ethnic community, way of thinking, technique of secondary nomination.
