LEVELS OF ENGLISH BORROWINGS IN THE RUSSIAN LANGUAGE
Abstract
Dyakov A.I.
Keywords: Anglicism, pseudo Anglicism, English loan-word, levels of borrowing, donor language, recipient language, transplant, loan translation.
The article deals with English loan words and other linguistic units which actively function in the Russian language. The Anglicism, in a narrow sense of this word, means an English word or a word combination which underwent the process of formal and semantic assimilation and performs definite functions in the Russian language as an independent object. In a broader sense, the Anglicism can represent a unit of any level (letter, morpheme, word, phrase, sentence, text) of the donor language (English) functioning in the recipient language (Russian) in any of these forms: transcribed, transliterated, transformed, translated and transplanted.
