THE SYNTACTICAL MODEL WITH CONSESSIVE MEANING IN SPONTANEOUS COMMUNICATION
Abstract
Kovalchuk N.V.
Keywords: syntactical model, concession, connectives, an interlocutor’s point of view.
The article argues that concession in spontaneous communication is realized in the form of a particular syntactical model which includes three components: (X) expressing the point of view in the form of a statement or an interrogative utterance; (X’) agreeing with this point of view from a responding interlocutor; (Y) making potentially contrastive point of view and manifesting a concession. Pragmatically this model prevents the speech conflict between the interlocutors, and presents the contrast of opinions as a concession. As a result both points of view acquire an equal communicative status.
