Teacher assessments are often used for assessment of learning including for high- stakes purposes - counting towards final course grades or university admissions decisions. Teacher assessment must satisfy the same quality criteria (of validity and reliability) as standardized tests, but should also meet somewhat different requirements. The author examines the most basic forms of classroom assessment techniques: questioning and feedback, observation, self-assessment, peer assessment, portfolio assessment and project based assessment.
