SPECIAL TYPE OF DERIVATIONAL SYNONYMY (ON THE MATERIAL OF SLAVIC LANGUAGES)
Abstract
The article deals with a special type of derivational synonymy. Being active throughout the history of the language, the synonymy of derivating and derived words confirms the possibility that synonymy in word families can become derivational synonymy. The original parallelism -ый/-ный that appeared in ancient times turned into word formation synonymy in the Middle Russian period. This phenomenon has a common Slavic character which is proven in the article by the examples from Russian, Ukrainian and Polish.
Keywords: the category of qualitative nouns, synonymic pairs, meaning differentiation, word formation synonymy.
