Abstract

Kovtunenko I.V.

Keywords: a complex syntactical unit, a compound sentence, a complex sentence, a coordinating conjunction, literary translation.

The article deals with syntactical constructions that have coordinating conjunctions “and”, “but” in the Russian and French texts. The analysis of the linguistic material allows the author to find out the main problems in translating these syntactical constructions from Russian into French. The article focuses on the problem of translating syntactical constructions which are located on the border of two sentences. There are some grammatical transformations, such as the change of the sentence division, the change of the type of the sentence, which lead to syntactical reconstruction.
