TO THE PROBLEM OF THE EQUIVALENT TRANSLATION OF A LITERARY TEXT

The article studies various definitions of the concept of equivalence of the translation of a literary text. The author refers to the three main approaches, which describe the term «equivalent» in modern translation studies, defines the tasks of an interpreter. The article analyzes the original of the poem by the great German poet G.Geyne «Ein Fichtenbaum steht einsam» and its different translations into Russian from the point of view of equivalence. The author makes an attempt to distinguish the translation proper from imitations and parodies of G.Geyne’ poetry.
