This article describes the XII Congress of the Russian Union of Germanic students, which took place in November 2014 in Kaliningrad. The author briefly describes the program of this Congress. The main theme for reports and master classes was "Literature and War". The First World War was seen in a new light, and the metaphor "slaughter" was examined from a cultural, historical and literary point of view.
